On World Healing Day March 2003 held at Machans Beach Primary School Cairns, we created a Peace Mandala using people to form the lines of the artwork. The first challenge was drawing it up as it was 28 metres across and I was stumped as to how to work it out on such a large scale, but Ken Kingston (Architect) came to my rescue and helped me get all the angles right. Thanks Ken!

Then we had to draw it up on the grass with spray paint using 25 points each at 0 45 90 132 180 235 270 325 degrees, facing 8 different directions of the circle. Not as easy as it sounds on such a large scale, but the three of us (Renee, Ken and I) managed it without a mistake!! And I couldn't have done it without them. Next challenge was where and how to place the people and musicians. There are a few things I would do differently next time, but I think for our first effort it went really well and it looked really good. It felt good and powerful to me.

The drawing of the Peace Mandala alone has a great deal of power, but on this scale with people forming the line and creating the energy of peace with their pure intent, activated the Mandala in a very powerful way and like a ripple in a pond, that intent expanded and engulfed the world and no doubt sent ripples into the universe. I'd like to thank everyone that turned up and participated as I personally felt it was beautiful. And I'd especially like to thank Renee, for her faith in me and for challenging me to go further than I thought possible, to do what has to be done and for her friendship.
